Dreamscapes
Dreamscapes X ray Incident
As part of a collaborative initiative led by Corpus Callosum, we developed a visual concept for Incidental 36: Three Dreams (Orient, Incident, Rachel), a composition by Ray Incident. The aim of the project was to visually interpret the emotional and psychological landscapes evoked by Ray’s composition, highlighting the deeply subjective nature of how individuals experience music.
This work focused on translating the emotional landscape of the piece into a visual narrative, experimenting with rhythm, tone, and atmosphere through the medium of an immersive 360-degree video. This process allowed us to engage deeply with music as a medium for visual storytelling and conceptual expression.
Concept
Our concept revolves around the theme of dreamscapes, which are inherently irregular and characterised by unpredictable patterns. Leveraging a 360-degree format, we aim to explore the intricate details of dreams, the fluidity of narratives, and the irregularity of time, using mixed media as a means of storytelling.
Metallic Environment
Moving back and forth unpredictably, the metallic structure undergoes sudden transformations inducing confusion and enhancing vibrancy. From midway, it navigates both realistic but abstract spaces, demonstrating the disruptive nature of dreams. Like how a place emerges in a dream, the presence of a person emerges as particles, but remains elusive in identity so stimulating curiosity.
Organic Movement
The music video begins with an organic sphere composed of lines moving irregularly in sync with the sudden emergence of the music, gradually building tension. As the mood shifts, particles with smooth and gentle movement evoke a dreamy atmosphere. Then, a place reminiscent of somewhere one has been before emerges but soon it collapses like in a hazy dream.
Clarity but Solitary Closure
Unresolved curiosity and confusion eventually disperse, regressing into oneself within the sphere, emphasising one’s own existence apart from the dream. In the final movements of the song, a quiet and serene scene unfolds, expressing solitude, and providing an emotional closure. The video concludes by depicting the complete dissolution of the sphere.
